.... for those who need to know: .... this is an Australian utility, a "ute".

..... this is what we are referring to when we use the word "ute".

the front and cabin are of a regular sedan to just behind the front seats and the back end is as you see it.

....... although the "hard cover", ice beer and seafood platters are all optional extras (well, maybe the beer isn't quite so optional).

These vehicles were/are made by the manufacturers as such and are not a custom made vehicle (until someone buys it and then lavishes a lot of $$$ on it). And although intended as a commercial/cargo vehicle, most are driven around with little to nothing in the back.

But this is a "UTE"!!!

....... a public service announcement from the house of Wallaby Jack

Do you suppose that vehicle is supposed to be a lowrider? Or the bed is sitting on the axle because there is a ton of ice in the back of that half ton truck?

Here we call them El Camino’s or Ranchero’s depending on the manufacturer. Although they have been out of production for a while. The ‘Pickup’ truck took over that position in the American consciousness. :P

Sure miss my old Dakota PU.

Is that a fruit eating bat or a mosquito eating bat?

That's a fruit eating bat @Alpo called a Fly Fox, they fly over our house each night in the thousands and thousands, any fruit trees they fight and scream at each other all night. Sadly some sometimes get killed when they reach across and get electrocuted on power lines.

I actually assumed that it was a fruit bat. As big as it is, if it ate mosquitoes, there soon would not be any mosquitoes left.

At dusk we have a lot of the smaller mozzie eating bats, there body size is about the size of a mouse.......there's still a LOT of mozzies :)
