OLG Yes walnut stain diluted down with alcohol. Each coat of linseed oil made the stock and forend richer coloured. They were put in the sun (hot and high UV's) and turned every hour. Dusty Devil Dale
Very nice. A good butt wrap will help protect that shiny finish from LT, ULT, and restaging table debris. But with linseed oil, repair is also pretty easy. Nice job.

Blackwater 53393
Some judicious steaming can “heal” many of the dings on stock and fore end finished with good oil!
Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life
I've done 30 or 40 stocks with linseed oil. I like to dilute the first few coats with thinner so it penetrates easier. I also like a satin finish instead of the "shine". I use powdered pumice and light mineral oil rubbed to give the stock a satin, less glossy finish.
Buckshot Bear
Put the leather butt cover on. Please excuse the dust on the old Cutler roll top desk (Buffalo NY) that showed up in the pics my grandfather, he bought this desk in 1899, been in the family for 122 years I still have the old receipt buried away somewhere. th
