Maddog Mark
Hey, I was told I had the wrong sight on the back of my H&R Rifle at a Plainsmen side match, But I don't know where you find any rules about it.

Colorado Coffinmaker
If yours is a "Skinner" peep sight, then you have the wrong sight. Not SASS legal. See the reference from PaleWolf.

Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329
SHB Page 29: Must use a SASS legal single shot rifle firing a traditional blackpowder rifle or revolver caliber cartridge SASS legal single shot sights found under LR rifle requirements SHB Page 30: Rear sights must either be open iron sights mounted on the barrel or original style tang or stock wrist mounted peep sights. Long range rear barrel mounted sights of the flip-up ladder type may use a peephole drilled through the sliding sight leaf. An example of this is the various ladder type sights used on the Springfield trapdoors. - Bolt or receiver mounted sights are not allowed
Colorado Coffinmaker
Regardless of what "peep" you have taken out of your sight, you still have a "Peep" Sight. It is still NOT legal in SASS. You really need to put a set of legal sights on the rifle.

Maddog Mark
So I'm gonna use 1 of the 3 screw holes in the barrel to mount it, correct?

IIRC the Williams sight uses 2 of the three holes. What I cannot remember is the height needed for both the front and rear sights. Been too long since I owned a Handi Rifle. Charlie MacNeil, SASS #48580
Question: what if one was to notch out the top of the peep thereby basically turning it into something similar to a full buckhorn sight? No dog in the fight, just idle curiosity...
