The "brass" frame is not as durable as the steel.

These guns were originally made as cap n ball shooters.

Most cartridges are a good bit more powerful than C&B.

Yes, you CAN do it, does not mean you should.

Ask the conversion cylinder maker, bet they say the same.

IMO it is unsafe , due to folks not knowing the pressure of their loads , brass frames will strech when loaded with higher end BP loads , 

 

 there was a warning put out not to use con cyls in brass framed pistols , and that was what I was told in gunsmithing school

  and YES , I have seen bad stuff happen , when things ain't done right

Cartridges shoot significantly heavier projectiles than C&B guns.

 

36 cal round balls weights about 80 grains. 

 

44 cal round balls weights about 144 grains. 

 

Heavier bullets mean greater chamber pressures.
