The Rainmaker, SASS #11631
The "brass" frame is not as durable as the steel. These guns were originally made as cap n ball shooters. Most cartridges are a good bit more powerful than C&B. Yes, you CAN do it, does not mean you should. Ask the conversion cylinder maker, bet they say the same. Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001
IMO it is unsafe , due to folks not knowing the pressure of their loads , brass frames will strech when loaded with higher end BP loads , there was a warning put out not to use con cyls in brass framed pistols , and that was what I was told in gunsmithing school CB and YES , I have seen bad stuff happen , when things ain't done right
Sedalia Dave
Cartridges shoot significantly heavier projectiles than C&B guns. 36 cal round balls weights about 80 grains. 44 cal round balls weights about 144 grains. Heavier bullets mean greater chamber pressures.
