Front Sights for an 1858 Remington

I just picked up a pair of 1858 Remingtons by Uberti.  Great guns but the front sight is a bit hard to see with my eyes.  It's not a blade sight like the Colts but like a ground down vertical rod that flares out toward the base.  It like to replace them with a brass sight but can't find one.  I've also thought about painting them brass.  What have you 1858 owners done to make the front sights more visible?

I have masked around the sight base and used a Dremel with a felt polisher and jewelers rouge to polish the back side of the sight to a bright finish.

That should work just fine.
Remember:

Quote

If blacking, paint, or plating is applied to a revolver front sight, it must cover the entire rear surface of the sight to give the appearance of a solid material.
