First it was his job to be the last man out and second, this is the general who allegedly (I happen to believe the story) got into a screaming match with the CO of 2/The Parachute Regiment and tried to order the CO NOT send out British patrols to get British citizens and those Afghans the British felt they were responsible for. The CO of 2/The Parachute Regiment refused and sent out his patrols.
