Warden Callaway
Now that several people have came forward with testimony that their guns have erosion around the firing pin hole, have they all been Uberti? Are there any examples of damage to Ruger, Colt or Pietta that come with bushing?
Injun Ryder, SASS #36201L
Checked my other S&W's and they all have the bushing. Model 3, 44 Double Action New Model 3, 44 Russian Safety Hammerless, 38 S&W However, the Model 1, 2nd Issue does not. (rimfire ) As an aside, neither does the Merwin Hulbert. I guess they’ve lasted pretty good.

Still run'n the same OMV 44's I started this game with and have no wear issues. Same for my wife's NMV .357's she has been using since 2010. Springfield Slim SASS #24733
I just sent my wife's 45 Colt "72's off to be welded up. One was bad enough to lock the cylinder due to primers sticking in the eroded hole, the other was not that bad yet. My 44-40 opentops don't show any sign of erosion even though they are shot more, but with BP. Not sure of the difference.

Abilene, SASS # 27489
Since so many Ubertis have been used with no problems, yet we see or hear about some of these cases, I wonder if the heat treating on some guns has been poorly done. ? The Coconino Pistolero, SASS # 72432
The outfit that did the machining to install bushings aka recoil plates I got from Peacemaker Specialists in my Uberti Opentops was Tejas Long Rifles of Bryan, TX. That was back in Sept of 2012.

Lunger Dan
You know how they say you don't buy beer- you rent it? Well...I figure now that it is the same for Uberti pistols.......wrote it off and bought an Uberti (Taylors) open top Army (45lc) Figure a couple hundred per year to rent til it wears out. The Scofield was a "stoeger" so maybe the Taylors will last a bit longer....
