John Wayne early westerns

Just got done watching some of JW's early westerns with George Hays...couldn't help but really notice how BIG the hats were for everyone!!

Wonder what the thinking was, or if that was just the style in the 1930-40's?

Big hats were all the rage at that time. Look at Tim McCoy and Hopalog Cassidy. Three years ago I posted a thread on hats and other items used in movies that were part of the Reel West exhibit at the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis. Perhaps someone can find it in the archives.

I thought I posted a thread on the hats as well. Maybe not.

Well, the computer decide to put some out of order. Pretend that it's a game to match them up with the right actor.
