Looks like it's time to get the job done,  Your ready      GW

GREAT LOOKING COLLECTION! The tough part will be getting out to shoot them as much as you want with all the lock-downs and such. One question, and there is no insult intended; However, I didn't realize you could own those in Australia. Of course, you could fill a swimming pool with the amount of stuff I don't know about Australia.

Thanks BandAid,

I got asked this question the other day by another member, I've copied and pasted my reply below. There seems that there's a lot of misinformation about Aussie gun laws.

Can go hunting with this and use it on the farm and shoot CAS till my hearts content. Need a safe at home now for long guns (always have for pistols).

Can't hunt with pistols in Oz (at least in my State),

Buy guns and ammo literally everywhere (though Kmart has stopped years ago selling guns and ammo) be hard to find a town that doesn't have a gun shop or two.

Need to have a trigger lock on them ie travelling in your car

Need to apply for a permit to purchase for any firearm, pretty simple and takes around 7 - 10 days (when you have that or multiples of them, just walk into any gunshop and buy and walk out

Need to belong to a pistol club to own pistols

Pistols and rifles can be sent through ordinary mail

Pistols, rifles and shotguns now do need to be registered with a Firearms Registry in each State (though there is millions upon millions of unregistered firearms)

Untold amounts of Aussies shoot and enjoy guns every day

Most towns have a gun club for people who don't own or have access to farms or who don't want to hunt on government owned forestry land which there are millions of acres of.

Think in a nutshell that I have quickly covered it, any other Aussie's reading might be able to jump in add more.

Gun ownership is alive and well in Oz and always has been and is growing, there's definitely anti gun nuts here like anywhere.

We don't have  the freedom (read: zero zero zero) of carry or for protection that you have in the US.

Nice! I must have missed, are those TALO Rugers?

Oh, and seeing how you have down time, get on that rifle furniture and make it look like wood again.

The most important thing to remember about Australia is that everything, no matter how cute, will kill you.

Thanks Hendo, I ordered a bottle of Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil on eBay yesterday. Will be here in a few days (will 8oz bottle be enough?) and have the Citristrip already.

Not sure whether the wood needs a stain or not? Do most stain?

Also.....really not looking forward to taking out the screws. I've taken off the side plates and the magazine end plug and they were TIGHT!!!!

Yes Sir, that 8oz bottle will do just fine. Just poke a hole in the foil when you use it and then store the bottle upside down.

I stained mine to make them match, both the fore end to the buttstock and to try and match them to my pistols. (I'm a bit OCD that way.)

The screws are what they are. As long as you have a good hollow ground screwdriver set, you should be fine. Just take your time.

Yes, TALO Rugers. To be honest I don't know much about TALO or what it means. I just saw these and liked 'em so much I bought 'em :)

Buy one of the small (1/4") impact drivers to remove the screws the first time. Use regular gunsmith bits for it.

Thanks KR I keep seeing these 1/4" impact drivers mentioned on the forum here, I can't seem to find a source for them though.

I got mine at Harbor Freight, a discount tool store. They should be available at a tool store or automotive store. If not try Amazon or something similar.

I like the fact that your Rugers have the gunfigther style grips on them from the factory.  Most are black plastic.  Here is a 1/4" impact driver.  Accepts standard screwdriver bits like those from Brownell's.

The grips do feel nicer than standard vaquero grips.

Appreciate the link to the driver.
