bgavin
Last year in Sacramento, we hit over 500 on the air quality index during the fall fires. This year, it has arrived early. The Dixie fire has now burned just over 434,000 acres over the last 23 days, and is only 21% contained. Smoke is running down the valley, over to the Bay Area, over Tahoe and down into Reno and the Carson Valley. The little blue area in the upper middle of the graphic is Lake Tahoe. The smoke arrived in Sacramento this AM with a vengeance. This year, I am prepared with respirators, extra filter packs, and half a dozen 20" box fans equipped with 20x20" MERV-13 filters. I have these running all over the house, and am amazed at how black the filters get, and how quickly.
