How do you know when it’s time to put down a pet

Recommended Posts

In our experience, cats are pretty stoic.  By the time  they complain of being in pain, they’ve already been in a world of hurt.

I keep getting something in my eye reading all these sad stories.  Have had to do this myownself.  Makes my into a blubbering mess.

My experience is that our pets have pretty much told us they were ready to go and were not going to get better.  Their quality of life was suffering mightily.  The vet confirmed this for each critter.

Got an old girl that can't hear, has a number of fatty tumors, has cataracts, snores terribly, has trouble getting up sometimes, had a bunch of teeth pulled recently but if she sees a deer or rabbit in the yard she will scoot after them to leave.  She has some more time but we are scoping out a spot in the pet cemetery for her.

I have mentioned earlier that our daughter had a very sick pitbull, unfortunately 'Kali had a massive tumour & very agressive cancer...she now has her wings, a beautiful  girl & only 5 yo.
