Gotta love this.

Actually, the shot you are taking NOW is either a miniscule

moment in the future, OR it is history...... gone down the

preverbial barrel.

So in essence, NOW becomes a non-factor.

I must admit that I don't understand the concept of

expectations creating fear.

All my expectations create excitement.  I honestly don't seem

to feel fear in my expectations.    But then again, I never worry

about anyone spilling soup.

If anything, I see the person serving soup and say...'Thank You'.

I may be a Southern thing.  I don't know.

But, seems about the only thing we fear around here is

that big ole Coon drowning our favorite Coonhound.

Fun discussion, isn't it?  You hit page 5 though!  Hopefully one day we can hash it out over a libation.

On a drift, it was a tough weekend.  Funny story with a painful ending.  A friend was over yesterday and we were doing some reloading.  Then we went out for lunch.  When we got back, one of the dogs got really excited and couldn't hold his bladder.  Yup, on my feet.  I got in the tub and pulled the handle to turn on the water and ended up holding it.  A bunch of brass and plastic at my feet, and water coming out of a place where it shouldn't.

The handle came through the cartridge and ripped out of the valve.  2 plumbers, several hours, a hole in the wall for access, a torch, solder, a bunch of parts later.  They got it sorted, but the bill was obscene.  And all on a Sunday.  The joys of home ownership.

On the upside, I was able to rinse off my feet.

Yea, its a fun discussion.

Sorri to hear about your Sunday but you atleast saw

the bright side of it by getting your feet rinsed.

For that, I will share my story of the day:

I went to the dentist to get a tooth pulled.

That tooth got everything but pulled.

He cracked, pried, chiseled, grind and prodded the tooth out.

THEN.....he stitched up the gum from all the damage.

Actually, he and I knew that would probably be issues and

it would be a difficult task.  But he is a good dentist and did

a good job.

That was 10 this morning.  I've only had to take 1 Tylenol #3

about 2 this afternoon and haven't had much discomfort

all day.   Right now, as you can tell from the Wire, I'm feeling

normal.   I should be my chirpy self tomorrow.

Matter of fact, I just might feel froggy enough to email my

good buddy Phantom and get him all fired up.....

That sounds an awful lot like what happened when my wisdom teeth were pulled.  Hope you're healing up ok.

J-Bar, perhaps not at the VERY beginning, but I agree, using a timer and trying to beat PAR time is an important and useful tool to improve shooting times.

I use to set my PAR time at 1.5 seconds and with a delay 'beep'.

I would draw at the beep, click the pistols 10 times (dry fire cycle)

and be reholstering at the 2nd 'beep'.

It was fun.    It helped a lot.

What's the most important shot?  The 10 second bonus on stage 10 that is still a 5 second miss (yes, this was at EOT one year?  How about the clay bird as a pistol shot on stage 4?

While all that about "forget the last shot because it's gone" and "don't think about the next shot because you're not there yet" is good mental programming, you also need to keep in mind that the 10-second-bonus-that's-still-a-5-second-miss is a 15 second target, which means that target has more value.  Does that make it importanter?

It just requires a bit more awareness/focus when taking the shot to ensure a hit that isn't an edge.

This is an interesting topic to read, and entertaining. There is some wisdom from long time shooters for sure.  I think learning to shoot properly and a lot of repetition/practice is generally the path to improvement. I also think there is a reason that there are a lot of teenagers in the Olympics!

Absolutely proper technique and practice/repetition is key - yer 100% right. Teach folks to concentrate on shooting Clean...that's another story.

And those teenagers in the Olympics...take a look at their coaches :o
