Dusty Morningwood
SOLD Possibly a stretch to find a buyer here, but this is a diverse crowd. This is a very good and well maintained example of a Belgian 8 gauge SxS Market Gun. Both metal and wood are in Good+ to VG Antique condition. There is a crack in the left side of stock running from triggerguard to lock that has a brass nail in it. Crack stops at TG mortice. Otherwise, the wood has only minor age related dings. The metal is equally Good+ to VG. The 29.75" twist steel barrels are tight with light pitting in bores. Very shootable, in my unprofessional opinion. Some scroll engraving on breech, locks and hammers. The engraving on hammers is different and is either due to replacing one or sloppy assembly at factory, something I have seen on other Belgian guns. This beast weighs in at around 16.5 lbs. The ELG in oval proof means a pre-1893 gun, so ships direct to buyer. A very impressive piece. Offered here for $1200 SHIPPED (Less than other sites. Shhhhh!). Check out comparables on Guns International in the 4 and 8 Gauge Shotguns section. Might consider comparable value trades of other antique firearms or cash/trade that gets me what I need.
