I'm on the 125GR Bandwagon too.

Ya need a little recoil to have your best times.

Phantom is absolutely correct on this point.  Recoil is needed.

130gr for me.  At 825fps.

I was using a real nice RNFP in 130gr...THAT was a nice bullet.

My supplier is no longer around.

Still don't get the 105gr craze...

Didn't you and Bud do an experiment once???

;)

Yeah, we did do an experiment.  We found that 125gr bullets at about 825fps yielded the best results across multiple scenarios.  We probably shot close to 2000 rounds between the two of us that day.

Personally, I can't think of a good reason to shoot 105's.

I compared 105s to 130s. On a sweep with no multi-taps no difference. In a sweep that has double or triple taps I found, for me, about a .5 second difference on a 10 shot string. Fairly consistently.  .5 isn’t much, but over a 10 stage match, 3-5 seconds is a pretty big deal. YMMV!

plus, the 105s ore a tad cheaper!

i tried the 105s in rifle, they fed ok, but I wanted a bit more feed-back from rifle.

158 grain SWC

I had to go to the 158s in my Rossi 92 because that particular one would not feed 125 or even 140 grain stuff in the .38 case. It would feed anything in 357 cases.

Just me but i'm kinda old fashioned I shoot my cartridges with bullets close to their original designed  weight .

115gr. in .32-20 , 158gr. in 38spl., 180gr. in .38 WCF, 225-240gr. in .44spl. and 255-270gr. in .45 Colt ...

Shooting mostly Black Powder ( Not Subs ), but even with that passing fad powder ...

Use some 105s but like 125s for some revolver work and rifles.  Find 135s and 147s nice in rifle also.

I use 125 TC in both rifle and pistol most of the time. 148 RF when I use APP.

I started years ago with 125s for no particular reason.  I then jumped on the 105 bandwagon because I was told less recoil is always better.  I didn't notice a bit of difference in recoil but did notice I needed to carry a separate stash of heavier bullets if I ran into a stage that had knockdown targets.  I quickly tired of having to remember the heavies so switched back to 125s and have been happy ever since.
