What diameter and bullet weight is recommended for New Winchester (Miroku) 1873

What is the recommended bullet weight and diameter for a new Winchester (Miroku made) 1873 Winchester with cowboy loads. I have a lot of 200 grain .452 lead bullets, but am not sure if I need .454 diameter lead bullets because of the low velocities required for the sport

If it's a "soft" bullet, it will expand into the grooves.

A hard bullet will lead your barrel at low velocities.

It would help to know what caliber you are shooting.  From your numbers, I would guess 45 Colt, but can you clarify?

This. 200 grain, .452 will work fine.

I'd start with the cheapest and work you way up to something that cycles well.  .452 200 gr lead is a good place to start. No sense making this complicated.

Before you spend your hard earned money on lead as suggested slug the bore.  Easy to do with an oversized slug, borrow a dead soft 454 ball or two from a friendly cap and ball shooter, lube it up with whatever your favorite stuff and drift it down the bbl with a dowel rod(s).
