Allie Mo, about cats...

Recommended Posts

Our oldest daughter (eldest?) has a female, I think at least 14yrs old.

Anyway, from time to time...she has us watch her for this reason or that.

Funny thing is, she always starts screaming in heat when here.

Funny how that happens, huh???

Anyway...my question would be: is it safe to spay an older female???

At this point, I would pay the bill!!!

More likely she is missing her parents and being in new house she is not used too

Yes and no....she has 'lived' in this house for years...

She has always been a very sqwally cat when in heat.

My cats were all younger when I had them spayed.  I would ask a vet.

Yup...I would definately find the risks before moving forward.

I thought she had spayed her years ago...

Might be an incintive in watching her again...well, LISTENING her again.

She is a senior cat. 14 is equal to 72 in human years, so a vet may be hesitant to to spay her. And she is an indoor kitty. Like Allie said, I had my cats spayed early.

At 15, cats are considered geriatric.

Yup...it is a sticky whicket!

I've had dogs. Dogs go into heat maybe twice a year.

According to this article, if cats don't get bred, they go into heat constantly.

Yup...BUT they go into a major sqwall cycle every now and then...hence why we end up with her occasionally.
