If it keeps moving and doesn't dawdle in the Gulf where it can reform and strengthen, it shouldn't be too bad- just a lot of rain and some fairly strong winds.

The problem will develop if it hits the brakes when it crosses into the Gulf and stays over those warm waters for a couple of days.  Cuba- like the Yucatan- does a pretty good job of tearing these storms up and weakening them.  If it keeps moving, there's no time for it to reorganize.  The longer it spends over the Gulf, the stronger it will be when it hits land.
