Professor Coldwater
Can someone please recommend a gunsmith in central/north Alabama that can swap the hammer on my NMV for a Bisley style? I'm looking for the lower, wider, non thumb ripping style. Thanks in advance. Professor Coldwater
John Barleycorn, SASS #76982
You’ll need a Bisley trigger too if you go that route. I’d suggest a Super Blackhawk hammer it hads the wider lower hammer sour and usually drop right in.
Sgt Duncan
I agree. I have swapped out Super Black Hawk hammers on most of my Rugers
Professor Coldwater
Thanks for the fast response John. That's why I need a Smith, I know how to point and squeeze, not much more.
Goody, SASS #26190
Here is a very straight forward video on how to swap the hammer. Watch it and see if you would feel comfortable doing it yourself. If not, the only thing you've lost is the 8 or 9 minutes it takes to watch the video.
Professor Coldwater
Thanks Goody, that was great! I did see another video where the guy said there was a possibility of a misfire. Is that a worry? I think I can handle a simple swap. But if any slight adjustments/filing are necessary, I would be more comfortable with a smith.
