As of three days ago, the reported average cost of gasoline in the U. S. was $2.56 per gallon.

In California, it's now $4.27.

In California, this represents an increase of over 40% from this time last year.

Oh - but "it's mostly due to the increase in driving since Covid restrictions have been lifted!"  or "it ALWAYS goes up in the summer!" we're told.

We are a country of idiots.  Well... no... we are a country of citizens whose "duly elected leaders" consider to be idiots.  They'll learn... they'll learn. -_-

In Tennessee, sales tax in my county is close to 10%.

Tennessee taxes almost everything: products, most food, and most services.

But, no income tax here. I paid about 10% income tax when I lived in California, in addition to federal income tax, in addition to California Sales tax.

Car registration here is about $32 per vehicle per year, and that includes the "convenience" fee for paying on line instead of driving to the court house to pay in person (about an hour round trip and 3 gallons of gas). So the extra $3 is a convenience I guess.

Honestly, I am glad I left California and moved to the United States.

John, you're about to have company!

I know three families headed your way from California this month.

Not to worry - they are NOT out to "California-ize" Tennessee... they're going because their values reflect those of most Tennesseeans!

Got gas in the hamster-mobile this morning@ $2.84/gal.. Proceeded to go into town, most stations were seen at $2.99/gal. Gent I talked with at the station said he had seen some farther up north in the city at $3.09! This is for 87 octane reg. gas. I figured we would be at $3.00 a gallon by July 4th, hate it when I'm right like that.:rolleyes::(:blink:

The recall is still in the works.

I just paid 129.00 to register my 1964 Honda 160 motorcycle and 229.00 for my 2012 Silverado. That's about as cheap as it gets.

Election date was just set.  The "PW's" camp is flooding the airwaves with commercials singing his praises.

Won't matter if he is recalled - his party still holds a supermajority in both houses of the legislature.

By the way... on gasoline, here's what we're paying in California for taxes and fees on every gallon (just had our annual increase today):

Federal Tax                                                                          $ 0.184

Calif Gas Tax                                                                       $ 0.511

Calif Sales Tax                                                                     $0.107

Calif Underground Storage Tank Fee                                $ 0.020

Calif Fuels Under the Cap Fee (variable)                          $ 0.143

Calif Low Carbon Fuel Standard Fee (variable)                $ 0.226

                                             Per Gallon Total                      $ 1.191

Sounds about right.
Want to hear something special?

I was in Arizona a couple of weeks ago. Their gas is $1.00 cheaper than our gas in SoCal. The gas sold in Arizona is the same exact gas we buy here. It’s pipelined there from refineries here.

It will not. The local daily news would make Goebbels and Stalin proud. Stolen elections through vanishing Republican ballots that just don’t show up in mailboxes.

This state is lost.

Seems the White House has to one up the PRoK with this fake news.

I worked in consumer packaged good, largely food and beverage, for 38 years before retiring in '18. I know a lot of folks still on the job in these companies.

I'll KMOA if this horse sh*t is the truth.

To the best of my knowledge 4th of July get togethers were banned last year due to Covid; so it can't possibly be true.

I don't know what the taxes are on gasoline in Florida. I do know that non-ethanol gas a WaWa's is $3.60 per gallon. I just filled up the 10 - 5 gallon cans (after the hurricane generator) + a 2 gallon can (lawn equipment) with it for a grand total of $189. I usually fill up at the end of May at the beginning of hurricane season but I decided to wait until prices came down a bit....they didn't. If nothing happens between now and the end of hurricane season in November, I'll be putting WAY over priced gas in my vehicle.

Especially true for Pards that live in "blue" socialist/leftist/liberal states...that are run by those that have broken their oath of office.

More reasons, in a rapidly growing list of reasons to:

1. Vote...every time, and get your family/friends/fellow churchgoers/co-workers/those that dislike you, to vote.

2. Run for office yourself. Kick out the bums, and fix it yourself.

3. Get in involved in local politics...by volunteering, and attending meetings, so you can make your voice heard, and opinions heeded.

There is an old saying... if you eat...you are involved in 1. agriculture, and 2. politics.

GitRDone!

This is akin to be dropped into Germany in the 1930s, or into the 1460s Spanish Inquisition.
We KNOW what is coming.
We KNOW there is nothing we can do to change or prevent it.

The founding fathers did not take the English to court to stop oppression.
They shot them.

They left out the part where the gas to run around and buy everything cost $10 more than last year. Sixteen cents, woop woop we're in the money now! In 10 years or so we can buy a 2 liter soda (assuming they don't go up.) Of course the pandemic is subsiding. Last year you couldn't buy all that anyway cuz the shelves were  bare.

Maybe the increase is going to pay for charging stations for all those electric cars that all the citizens are supposed to drive causing more brown outs and rolling black outs when they can't generate enough green electricity.:rolleyes::blush::lol:

Ingrates!  Be thankful they don't take it all!  They give you a wonderful life.  They inport interesting new neighbors from far away lands for you.  They give you the freedom to be any sex you can imagine.  They let you smoke dope in select jurisdictions.  They haven't even tortured the January 6 protesters.  All  you can do is complain about your taxes.  The ungrateful American people don't deserve such magnanimous government.
