A more accurate headline

Why is the title of the article “Texas dad shoots peeping-tom outside of daughter’s window”.

If you read the article it wold seem an more accurate title would be  ‘ Man shoots peeping tom who was aiming a gun at his wife’.
For those who want more gun control, the results exceed the crime. For those who support  the 2nd Amendment, the potential crime justifies the results.

This is why I don’t trust the media.

And yes I know the peeping tom disarmed the wife.

We shooters have to understand three things:

1) the news-writers were schooled in communism in college and to them anything gun related has to be presented in a negative light.

2) The news-writers were schooled in communist controlled colleges where the ability to write descriptive sentences that are informative and accurate are not allowed unless they conform to the socialist script.

3) gun owners bad - criminal good.

I’m not. Fox has the same cancer as all the others now.

ill agree the headline was wrong , but the story covered it all - IIRC the headline is intended to get you to read the story , if the story actually covered the event ive no real issue with the headline , except as noted some antis will coopt it for their own purpose - wonder haw they might feel if it was their daughter tho , im wondering why libs seem to like criminals so much ?

I disagree. Fox may have a few issues but they’re heads above the MSM!

You're probably correct, but the continuous stream of headlines like this seem to demonstrate ideas, attitudes, and activities that follow the dominant social trends in opinion, fashion, culture, and political rhetoric

With Greg Gutfeld, Hannity, Jesse Waters, Laura Ingraham, The Five and a slew of conservative ladies on Fox the libs they have are minimal and very annoying! Even Bret Baier has panels on the news every night which is almost always 2 conservatives and one lib.  They're far from MSM. Just MHO.;)

Editors know that all too many people don't read anything but the headline. They use headlines to shape public opinion .

cant argue with that comment these days - there is no longer free journalism seeking  facts and presenting an unbiased story - everything has an agenda

There is the myth that the press has, until recently, always been unbiased.  Nothing is further from the truth.  It was only for a very short period that the press tried to be unbiased.  Remember "yellow journalism?"  Or towns having several newspapers with opposing political points of view and spewing sensationalistic screed against the others and their views?  The surprising thing is that we had maybe 30 years of a reasonably unbiased, unaligned press.

All one needs to do is look back at the Tombstone days. There was the Tombstone Epitaph and the Tombstone Nugget that were on opposite sides of the political spectrum. It's been going on for years!

When exactly did we have 30 years of unbiased press? It seems to me we only had 3 networks and we believed what they said because there was no counter stations bringing up the opposite view! Everyone believed Walter Cronkite who was as liberal as anyone on CNN today! Just MHO.

im not sure what 30 years that was either , it did seem at one time that general stories - not political were covered a bit for more factualy but then i maybe didnt realize back then that everything is political and facts get in the way of an agenda , is what it is and we all have to take it in digest it and draw our own conclusions ,

How about this one? Same story, slightly different headline.

Father Shoots Peeping Tom Who Spied on His Daughter, Pointed Handgun at His Wife

To me that headline says that the man saw the peeper outside his daughter's window, shot him there while he was standing outside the daughter's window, and then turned his gun on his wife.

i see where you might take that away from the headline - its why you read the story , to find out what really happened , and why journalists should seek out all the facts to write a true story but again , if there is a political motive [read gun control] they will sin it as they need to to get to where they want to go , we dont have to accept what they wrote .............

you believe what you want and ill believe the truth
