Pat Riot
9 hours ago, Chili Ron said: Howdy. I just scanned the replies.... A friend has four kids the oldest is in second year of college. When he tried to show them old movies they sat with the movie playing and they quickly got out their phones and started tapping. Good luck getting todays kids to actually watch and enjoy these films. they just tap away. I see people in the diner not talking just tapping. I think its and addiction. I dont know if its good or bad but seems ODD. Best CR ymmv I see that all the time as well. I went to a restaurant and saw a family, parents and two boys and two girls sitting at a table eating. All 6 of them staring at their phones not saying a word. My wife will do the same. We’ll be seated and out comes her phone. One day we went to a restaurant here in SoCal. The waitress came over and said “Are you together?” Odd question - we were at the same table. I think it was a set up…so I treated it like one. I said “We are, but I will be dining alone as she seems to be more interested in staring at her phone.” My wife looked at me like “Oh boy, are you gonna get it!” She put the phone away and doesn’t do that any more. One of the reasons I listed the corny comedies that I did above is I felt that trying to introduce youngsters to classics and hitting them with some of the movies listed will be an immediate turn off. You gotta break them in slow and least get them to look at an older movie.
sassnetguy50
"the younger generations too" younger doesn't have to be 14. It is good to educate the mtv generation in their 40s now.
Bad Bascomb, SASS # 47,494
Adding my 0.02$, my list has a few repeats. Any titles with modern/recent remakes actually mean the ORIGINAL, and if originally in B&W, that's it, no colorized versions. Bad Day at Black Rock Dr. Wassel Cain Mutiny The Day the Earth Stood Still The Four Feathers They Were Expendable The Fighting Seabees When Worlds Collide
Smuteye John SASS#24774
Genghis Khan with John Wayne and Agnes Moorehead. It proves that the Duke could do comedy, too. (Either that, or it's just really, really bad.) I know the scene where he stomps into the ger and says, "Hail, Mother." makes me bust out in a belly laugh every time I see it.
