Three Foot Johnson
I found this on a dedicated Cowboy Action range today - nobody has a clue. It appears to be aluminum, the case is cracked in three or four places, maybe from being walked on, and has a primer that looks a lot like a 209, but it's integral to the case and not a separate piece. 9mm case for comparison. Utah Bob #35998
A primer in the nose would indicate an explosive round.

Is that a primer or another dimple...? Either way, it looks like it would hurt. A lot.
Three Foot Johnson
That appears to be a firing pin imprint that set off the internal primer.
