SOLD This is a Very Good ANTIQUE Condition Model 1868 Allin conversion trapdoor Springfield manufactured in 1870. Began life as a Model 1863 .58 rifled musket. in 1870 the trapdoor receiver was added and bore sleeved to .50-70. Most 68 models were made in 69-70. Barrel has a soft grey brown patina with minimal blemishes. There is one small recent blemish on top of barrel. Bright shiny bore is VG. Stocks are in Good + condition with wear consistent with a 150 year old military rifle. A couple of minor age/stress cracks. There is one recent scratch on buttstock. There are four faint cartouches on left flat of stock. Metal stamps are clear and crisp. Has black period sling. All in all, a very respectable example.
