Dungannon Gunner
You can only have 1 firearm to hunt, defend you and your family, rob banks , guard the bank or stagecoach, whatever might be your life calling, what will you choose? No you cannot take a gun back in time with you.

Waxahachie Kid #17017 L
Shotgun. It's the most versatile. Bird-shot, buck-shot, buck & ball. Dove, quail, squirrels, turkey, deer, and two legged varmints. I figure nothing will give a bad guy diarrhea, and a speech impediment, faster, than looking down the bore of a 10 gauge double barrel. Dantankerous
For starters I'd want... A toothbrush, penicillin, ibuprofen, water purification tablets, and sunscreen. Give me a repeating rifle. Probably a '73. How long is this trip?

Trailrider #896
Probably a sxs shotgun. But can I go out to Ogden, UT, and see what the Browning Bros. are doing in their sporting goods shop? I hear the older brother, John is something of a gunsmith and may have designed and invented a neat, strong buffalo rifle of the falling block type that will handle bodacious cartridges, including the Sharp's .45-2-1/10 (Army .45-70), and .50 caliber cartridges. If Winchester was smart, they'd buy the design from him,

Raylan
A Gatling Gun. Cost somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 dollars or more back then. I would then sell it, buy rifles (1873 winchester in 44-40, 1876 winchester in 45-70), pistols (1873 Colt SAA in 45 colt), and shotguns 12 gauge SXS Greeners. I would still have enough left over for some acreage, a home, barn, and livestock. Edit was thinking of 1886 winchester in 45-70 - so would wait seven years and buy one then. Jabez Cowboy,SASS # 50129
The 1876 Was Never Chambered in .45-70 !!! it was however Chambered in .45-75 which was a shorter Fatter Round that would function with-in the constraints of the shorter Action length of the 76 . It used Shorter Lighter Bullets than the Government .45 .... Me I would stick with my Grandpappy's Sharps .... Mess-up anyone's day both Near and Far .
