Lucky Bastard
Well I believe my carrier after 300 rounds is developing the marlin jam. It has a 1/32 horizontal groove in it. About 2/3 up. I will post pics shortly

OLG Lumpy is correct. That 'notch' is created by the END of the snail cam and only shows where the snail cam stops as it rolls up the ramp. The Marlin Jam is usually created somewhere in the lower half of the ramp being slightly lower than needed for the length of ammo you are using. Example: shorter OAL ammo functions in the rifle better when the ramp is a little higher and slightly angled more. Longer OAL ammo will function well in those ramps that are slightly worn. I don't know the OAL of your ammo, but if in fact it is jamming because the ramp is too low, increase the OAL of your ammo and it should stop..... at least for a period of time. CURE: as stated above, ship it to Gunner Gatlin. If you plan to continue to use short OAL ammo in your rifle, ask Gunner to give you approx a .005 increase in your carrier ramp height. ..........Widder

With blue loctite When you used the blue loctite, did you put it on the screw and then push it thru the frame that secures the carrier (carrier pivot screw) hole OR did you use it on the FEMALE side AFTER the screw has been pushed thru the rifle? If you put it on the screw threads and then pushed it thru the rifle, there is a possibility that you may have gummed up the pivoting process of the carrier. Just a thought. ..........Widder

Widder, SASS #59054
Try some 1.50 OAL ammo. If your rifle is starting to have a timing problem (which is the cause of the Marlin Jam), 1.42 OAL ammo will present some problems. Likewise, if its starting to have timing problems, 1.50 OAL ammo will probably work. If it does, then that should tell you more about your situation. If you still have some feeding problems because of the carrier jamming, then you probably have another issue. ..........WIdder

Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
a bit off this thread but I had a pretty good 'hitch' when my lever was just about closed. Since I'm a sucker for new and improved parts I ordered the Ranger Point extractor for mine. Took the hitch away and runs much smoother now. to be fair I never did have chambering problems so this just made cycling the action smoother
