Trigger Mike
My sons have been using a lot of 22 lately so I went to see if the local stores had any. one of them had none. the other one had a few boxes and sellier and bellot for $18 for 50 rounds. the sales guy said that if I bought a 22 rifle I could get a brick of 500 Aquila for $46. Since my son's Ruger 10-22 was sill being repaired he has claimed my Smith and Wesson AR-15-22 was his. My other son already claimed he wanted the other one, so in order to buy ammo you can imagine what option I chose. Now my 9 year old daughter likes that version of 22 rifle as well. The one we never could get into shooting. Maybe I need to go buy another brick of 500 ?
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672
I stopped at Wal-mart in Salem,IL. and the guy in electronics told me that he saw ammo in the lockup and would have the sporting goods guy bring it out. He had a case of AA low-noise/low recoil (10 boxes, 7.87 ea.), (2 boxes) Winchester 22lr in 333 box for $17.47, and ( 10 Boxes ) Winchester 22lr in 555 boxes for $24.47. Limit 3 boxes. Also got some Federal 22lr in the 325 box for 17.73 at Wal-Mart in Vandalia, IL. (Limit 3 boxes). I got 3 of the 325 boxes, 3 of the 555 boxes, and 3 boxes of shotgun shells. Earlier this week I picked up (3) 100 rd boxes of CCI 22 shorts I think for about 7.75 a box at Wal-Mart. in Mattoon, IL. I got Large pistol Federal Primers for $80/1000 and picked up 2000 primers at a shop that just sells reloading supplies. He stated the way his distributors were talking, the ammo and reloading supplies should come back in the the next 2-3 months and the new price for primers would be around $60/1000. (He stated that was the impression he got, but no guarantee). He had shotgun shell primers for $45/1000 and other brands of large pistol ($70-$80/1000), but no small pistol or small rifle. I got a bunch of used 44spl brass (500 @ $.20 ea) and some new Starline brass (200@ $.27.5 ea) so it looks like brass has gone up. I think the key to buying right now is to be patient and look around unless you are out of ammo, my problem is I am running low on LNLR AA 20ga shells and I have enough 12 ga LNLR AA (50 Boxes) now that I may just buy a 12ga shotgun soon. At $60/1000 primers I may stop shooting. That's just too much. They were $38/1000 before this mess started. I'm just not willing to support that kind of price increase. In my area there are no primers for sale except through private parties. I paid $200 for 2000 primers. Now they are running around $150 per 1000. Primers on line are running around $80 per 1000 on some sites upwards of $200 on others.
Crazy Gun Barney, SASS #2428
If I could find spp for only $80 or $60 I might actually do a happy dance right there in the store and would probably throw my back out because I reached for my wallet too fast. Warden Callaway
My gunshop buddies tell me people are finding ammo and then asking if they have a gun to shoot it in. Or pick a gun and ask if they have ammo before buying. Likely they don't have a clue what guns and ammo should normally cost.

McCandless
The Wal-holes in my area have stopped selling all ammo. The ones that used to sell guns don't.
