My son-in-law was an XO in EOD.
To this day, he wears on his left wrist a series of string bracelets in remembrance of those he lost.

This weekend my friend and partner for over twenty years retired Detective Sergeant and Vietnam vet Tony Banks at eighty years old will be playing TAPS twelve times at various memorial services. I am proud to call him partner and friend

Sad and solemn, yet it fills me with pride to remember so any of them.

 

I fear that they may be forgotten or ignored in the not too distant future.....and I pray I will be proven wrong.

2010 I found my adopted father’s grave and saw that he was not getting a flag for Memorial Day.  It took some effort to find a document that said he was in the Army, then to get a marker for the grave. Yesterday I completed the assignment I had given myself and placed his marker and a flag near the grave.  (AL had already put flags on other graves. ). Mission accomplished.

Good for you,Marshal! I need to check on one as well. Killed at Kasserine Pass, repatriated 1948. Not sure if the AL is getting into that section of the cemetery now or not, been a few years since I was up there.
