Movies that never get old

The reason why LOTR never seems to get old is because by the time you finally reach the end of it you can't remember what happened at the beginning!

I first read the books when I about 12 years old and I've lost track of how many times I've read Lord of the Rings.  It was great to see Peter Jackson bring Lord of the Rings to the screen and do it very well.

It is difficult to list all my favorite movies.

But, here are a couple:

*.  The Searchers      (John Wayne)

*.  The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre      (Humphrey Bogart)

           (short movie clip)......beautiful

LOTR!!!  You re-read and you watch again because every time you do, you read or see something you hadn’t in earlier samplings.

I see Hatari listed and some back and forth about Jeeps. That movie featured ALMOST every Jeep made at the time, including the CJ6 AND a couple of FC170s!

I have an FC170 that I am building as a hot rod truck. My dad had one when the movie was released!  We’ve owned every Jeep in the movie except the CJ6. I’ll throw in the Power Wagon and the early’50s GMC/Chevy they used for a catching car!!

Those are ALL rough, rugged, tough old trucks!!

It was a fun movie!!

They call them "classics." These are the movies I can watch more than half a dozen times or more.

Many of mine have been mentioned.

Hombre, the Searchers, Tombstone, Open Range, the Unforgiven, Winchester '73, the Big Country, Bend of the River, the Shootist, Hat Creek Cattle Company, the Man From Laramie, True Grit (both), Gettysburg, Secretariat, Hondo, Quigley Down Under, Pale Rider, the Man From Snowy River, How the West Was Won, ............ I guess I like westerns.

Action

Ride with the Devil. Great Missouri Civil War action

The Duellists.  Epic, beautifully photographed Napoleonic stab ‘em up from Ridley Scott

China. 1943 Alan Ladd and William Bendix fight the Japs pre Pearl Harbor

River Wild.  Naughty Kevin Bacon vs “underrated” Merle Streep on a raft.

Comedy

Stuck on You. Farcical Siamese Twins, “Hey, we’re Americans!”

Top Secret.  Rare and hilarious combo of WWII and ‘50s Rock and Roll with Doc Holliday/Val Kilmer

Some Like it Hot.  Hubba, hubba Marilyn Monroe!

Lemon Drop Kidd. Bob Hope as a track tout.

Honorable Mention to both Ghostbreakers with Hope and Scared Stiff, same story with Martin and Lewis

Seamus.

I just watched Lake Placid again. It's a campy little movie with a lot of subtle brilliance to it.

Plus a very foul mouthed Betty White makes this flick fun.
