Cricket... in Texas!

Not Cricket the insect but Cricket the game. As to the former, I swear some years it seems that those nasty black critters are everywhere.

Found out that in N Texas there are at least 3 leagues with a combined total of over 300 teams that are playing the game of Cricket.  Who would have thunk it.

'I breathe cricket': The love of cricket brews in North Texas

"Where soccer was 15 years back is where cricket is now," said Sibu.

While some liken the game to baseball, many WFAA spoke with would smirk and quickly say 'it's not.'

It may not be like baseball, but it is a bat and ball sport. In slow motion, you can appreciate the beautiful dance of the bowler and the dogged pursuit of the batsman.

It is a game of angles, precision, spins and strategy. The U.S. is still playing catch-up on a sport that has been around for centuries, but North Texas might be the shining example.

Why does everybody assume that, because Americans choose to ignore some boring furriner game, that we are somehow "behind" the rest of mankind?

We don't.

We just figure that since it's against the rules to beat on garbage cans anymore, ya'll don't know how to play cricket.

Does the prohibition specify "garbage cans" or is written as "rubbish bins"?

Because if it is the latter you should be GTG.....

Dave,

Didn't we drive the Brits out of our country about 250 years ago?

So what's with some peoples' infatuation with soccer, cricket, royalty (theirs and our own that have become like royalty-dynasties), The Beatles (and other Brit musicians), their clothing fashions, etdangceteta?
