When we started SASS...

Recommended Posts

Oh, I forgot to add, I'm 57 and I ain't done spending my misspent youth.

(Although I do wake up in the morning looking for change behind the couch cushions.)

Headed for 70 this coming July, weird saying that, sure don’t feel much different than when I was in my 30s, started Sass 7 years ago and love it more all the time!  SCJ

I'm in my 66th year, and still one of the younger shooters of the regulars.

Originally joined in June of '92, shot once or twice, got married, had a kid, took a ten year hiatus, got divorced, re-joined, and have been shooting CAS regularly ever since. Now that I'm retired, I get in ~40 matches a season.

I was 47 when I started in 2002 and 19 years later I'm 66.  Started shooting traditional, then 49r, then duelist, then frontiersman, then along came Classic. Now Silver Senior duelist, or SS FC duelist or SS Classic Cowboy (if there are enough to split out).

What Bob said.

Trust me, Miss Allie...you'll never be in geezermode!!!

I am old...(once my son asked me if, when I was a boy, did I see things in color, since all our photographs we had were in black and white)...but I ain't blind...(nor am I ready for the rockin' chair...even though I have one foot in the grave, and the other one on a banana peel).

There's a ton of Pards that will agree with me.

Best decision you'll have made, IF you get out to matches!@!

Shanley and I vowed one away match a year (to another state)

Now we travel to several.

The folks we've met!!!

I’m a 10-year-old trapped in a 74-year-old body.

So I’m either too young or too old.
Dag Nabbit!

I thought you were trapped in a Baptist's body?

I'll be able to shoot Wrangler after my birthday next year :D

Edit, I do enough wrangling now with all my kids...

I plan on getting to my first one this month. I will be able to help with spotting until I heal up. Gives me that carrot I need in front of my nose ;)

I'm 71, been shooting for 15 yrs. Last week, taking my  6 yr old granddaughter to school, she asked me how I got so old and I should probably start using a walker.

My 3 and 4 year old grands move my wrinkles around...asking me if "they hurt?"

That's a great way to learn. We had a man come out for almost a year and help. He was a pro with the rules before he ever shot.

I resent your alias now that I know your age, kiddo!

My wife attended her first shoot as a participant.

I'd started her on a Colt Woodsman.

Under stress you revert to your initial training.

She wanted to crawl under the gravel when the timer said "Ma'am ... ma'am, you have to cock the pistol first."

She felt every single set of eyeballs burning into her shoulder blades, but by the time she hit the third stage, she'd found her momentum and she was enjoying herself.

Then we broke for lunch.

Someone I didn't know was across the table from us at lunch.

He glared at my wife, squinted at her badge -- 27333 -- and started complaining loudly about all the damned newcomers ruining our game.

My wife has never been back.

I believe a bunch of these 'thinkers' have passed on, one way or the other!!!

There have been too many who have never come back from rude comments/behavior!

By the way 'Sheriff'...what age base do you fall in?;)

I are old and decrepit!
I are six and a half decades and maybe one year more than that!
I are ancient!
I are obsolete!
I are wearing attair T-shirt that says "The older I get, the better I was!"

Somehow I just knew you were younger, smarter and better lookin' than me!

(Not necessarily in that order)

(insert innocent expression here!)

(you have to understand ... I've been practicing that innocent expression for a very long time, and it hasn't worked, not even once, but I keep trying!)

This is a common way to kill a club and the sport .......

...... many clubs, and a few sports, have died from this.   :(

                  ..... it's an attitude thing.

My number 44062 was issued in 2002; neither your good Lady nor myself are newcomers.

When I started I’d just turned 35.  Some folks brought their kids shooting, but more were older than me than younger.

I think I’m 57... I have to look at my phone to figure my age.

Wolfy, you seemed young to me. You were younger than most folks. Heck, you're still young to me. :) I was 50 when I started. By your number, you must have started in 1999 or 2000.

I’m very immature.  Plus (since I’m filipino) I have “secret asian man” genetics.  I thought you were a great deal younger.  Prolly cause of how other peoples’ kids gravitated towards y’all.
