Calvin N. Hobbes, 17218
spf $1800 This is a custom built Winchester 1876 made by Chaparral Repeating Arms. It is 40-60 Winchester and comes with a complete set of reloading dies and 93 pieces of brass. 28 inch barrel, 13 inch length of pull, weighs 11 pounds. It has exhibition grade wood that has been hand checkered by a master craftsman. I forget her name, it has been a while, but she was in charge of checkering at one of the major gun makers. It has the most stunning case hardened colored Swiss butt plate I have ever seen. It has a Smith copy of the Winchester tang site and a windage adjustable front sight. The barrel is charcoal blued. the receiver, and even the fore-end cap, are color case hardened. I have far more than the asking price into this gun, but I am forced to sell...not because I am poor but the wife has put a sort of buy a gun/sell a gun policy into effect. Free shipping to your ffl, this is not a C&R. I am offering this to the SASS community at a friends and family price. Perfect for long range lever. My guns are guaranteed, you may return FOR ANY REASON and get a full refund less shipping within one week. .

Yul Lose
I owned one of these in 45-60 and it was a very nice rifle. Was this one ordered in 40-60 or do you know? Is brass hard to come by? Could you modify 40-65 brass to 40-60?

Calvin N. Hobbes, 17218
YUL LOSE...This is 40-60 and I bought it direct from Chaparral at Winter Range years ago. The early ones had problems but I have gone through this gun and it works perfectly. Brass is available from Buffalo Arms or can be made from 45-70, 45-60 or any unformed 45 Gov't brass. CITY DUDE, not sure of shipping to AK, but I'll pay the first $45 and you can pay the rest.
City Dude
Buffalowinter, thank you. I'd love to have it, but I think I've managed to talk myself down off the ledge. City Dude
Silver Sam, SASS #34718L
I know that Chaparral earned itself a well deserved bad reputation on it's 1873..... I know, I owned a couple of em.... But, from my experience the 1876 was a completely different story.... I had one also in 40-60 and it was one of the Best Shooters I ever owned. The wood was the only thing that let mine down... And like Calvin I replaced it. The Only reason I let mine go was because I stumbled across a super nice Marlin 1893 that shot equally as well as the Chaparral. so I sold the '76 to purchase the '93.... and I have pretty much the same agreement as Calvin.... aka Buffalo Winter. I can vouch for Calvin, if he says it works perfectly, then it Does. And that is One Purdy Rifle !!!!
