Obviously the maker of the video is Canadian. .... they just used some stock footage, not even all from WWI.

It's an artistic rather than a historically accurate video.....and there were 8,709 Australian and 2,229 NZ troops killed at Gallipoli not 50,000 like the opening caption says.

There were 30 KIA in the Newfoundland regiment.

The song was written by Eric Bogle.

Quote

Eric Bogle (born 23 September 1944) is a Scottish folk singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Scotland, he emigrated to Australia at the age of 25, to settle near Adelaide, South Australia.

"The song was written in the space of two weeks. Interviewed in 2009 for The Scotsman, he said: I wrote it as an oblique comment on the Vietnam War which was in full swing… but while boys from Australia were dying there, people had hardly any idea where Vietnam was."

Perhaps Canada because troops from Newfoundland were at Gallipoli.  Newfoundland has since become part of Canada.

True there were many nations at various locations on Gallipoli but the song is quintessentially Australian with very specific Australian references.

Happy to share though with all our Brothers in Arms.
