J-BAR #18287
Need recommendations for a replacement. Thanks. (I can’t afford a MacIntosh, so keep it reasonable.)
Singin' Sue 71615
We bought a Philips Blue Ray after the Sony. The Sony was not compatable for some apps on the player. This guy plays movies, CDs as well as runs apps on TV. Worth the $
Abilene Slim SASS 81783
Any of the inexpensive DVD players will do. Depends on what you want to hook it up to. Output is the defining factor. RCA jacks? USB? Etc. There are also conversion interfaces for older stereo equipment.
Chili Ron
Howdy, My little samsung died and the local shop fixed it. I did some shopping and wow there are a lot of different prices. But mine was fixed and works better than new. Be careful to read the box, some dont play certain disks. Also be certain to have space for air to cool the machine. I use a few med bottle caps as spacers. Dont cover the vents. Best CR
Happy Jack, SASS #20451
I have a Bryston BCD-3 dedicated CD player but unless the rest of your system is high end it is gross overkill. The issue with the inexpensive Blue Ray. CD/ DVD/DVD-R etc. it does it all is that they are NOT optimized for any of the different formats they will read. To get the accurate sound from CD's you need a dedicated player.

Four-Eyed Buck,SASS #14795
I picked up a DVD player at Wally a couple months ago. It's an LG, hooks up with HDMI. Does a good job and was only around $30 plus the Governor's due. It's hooked up to the Emerson 32" TV in m y bedroom. Haven't noticed any dedicated CD players in my store trips, but I assume they are out there if you look hard enough. Wife has an AM/FM CD portable that she uses occasionally. Chili Ron
Howdy, Local video repair shop is wonderful. The guy is sort of retired and has converted his garage to a shop. He has a stand for working on 70 inch tvs. Made it himself. He takes in work from the suburbs. NO advertising. Best CR
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
My IPod broke. I went to BestBuy and it turns out they don't make them anymore.
Smuteye John SASS#24774
Pawn shops should have reasonably priced replacements and probably a better selection anywhere off the internet.
