Great list, but I have to go with George C. Scott in “Dr. Strangelove”.

I actually got paid for being an extra in the Doors, so yes Val Kilmer was a great Jim Morrison, but Doc Holiday in Tombstone is his most iconic.

By the same token Michael Beene as Johnny Ringo is LARGER THAN LIFE.

I liked Denzel's performance in man on fire, haven't seen the equalizer movies so don't know how he compares there.

How about Stallone, Rocky or Rambo?  Or maybe Expendables?:D

Denzel Washington in Man on Fire soars above Equalizer (based solely on emotional content).

Same way as Stallone’s Rocky is the American under-dog story.

Oh, I forgot. Idris Elba as Luther

Luther and Nelson, no?  I have yet to watch it.

While Stallone as “Rocky” is iconic, I think his role as Freddy Heflin in “Cop Land” might be his best.

I have to agree he showed his acting chops off in that one.

Anything Idris works in is magic. Beast of No Nation, Molly's Game, No Good Deed, Bastille Day......

I'm a fan. As if you couldn't tell.

Charlton Heston — Moses — Ben Hur

 Yul Brynner— Pick one

Don’t forget Omega Man as a Charlton Heston vehicle.

My fave Yul Brynner role’s got to be Chris in the Magnificent Seven.

(even with directorial decision to explain his hungarian accent as cajun)
