Nasty stuff, UB. Prayers for yours. My parent's both had a form of Parkinsons. Dad couldn't take the meds for it, the end was really brutal. Mom could handle the meds, but eventually dementia set in. She lasted about 5 years after Dad.:(

My hand on your shoulder, my friend: yours is not an easy duty, and God's blessing upon you for taking care of her!

I’m stunned and sorry to hear. I know with my aunt there wer some treatment options that prolonged her quality of life, I hope that is an option for your sister.

You, Carol, your sister and family will be in my thoughts and meditations.

My mom died of Alzheimers.  It's a tough one, my friend.  Know that you have  lot of friends who are praying for you and your family, and if you need anything send out a call.

Try to emulate Job and put your heart in the hands of God.

Alzheimer's disease is a sad, relentless neurologic disorder. I feel your pain.

In case it crossed your mind, genetic testing generally isn't recommended for a routine Alzheimer's disease evaluation. The exception is people who have a family history of early-onset Alzheimer's disease, which is very strongly linked to your genes (age at onset < 65 years) .

I'm happy your sister has a stable environment.

UB,

I lost my Dad to Alzheimer's complications in '15. I think about him every day.

Prayers up for you and your family.

Visit her if she still knows who you are.  It will comfort you when she no longer does.  When that day comes, let her go.

We talk frequently on the phone. She lives in CA.

You and your sister are on my prayer list too, Bob.

Helen Brimstone lost her mom to Alzheimer's.  The support from her family was everything to her.

Howdy,

Very sorry to hear.

Do not worry.

If there is something you can do, you will do it. No need to worry.

If there is nothing you can do, then thats IT.  worry is a waste of time.

So do not worry.

I am headed out to enjoy today.

Suggest all do the same.

Cavieat your emptor.

Best

CR

I would love to visit her but given my wife’s situation I’m afraid that will be impossible. But I have been talking to her frequently on the phone and will continue as long as possible.

Sorry to hear that Bob.

My grandmother had it about 50 years ago, back then it wasn't referred to as Alzheimer's, it was called going senile.

lost my MOM to Alzheimer’s.  My brother was tested and has a propensity to get it [he says] but i refuse to live with a hammer hanging over my head . It is a hideous disease.

I also wish your sister and family the best.
