What’s your guess?

Some parts of the country aren’t having to put up with it. My area isn’t one of them.

I saw an article the other day that compared California and Florida. CA has to wear masks and there are still restrictions. FLA has no mask requirements or restrictions. Both have 8,900 cases per 100,000 people.

If I find that article again I will post it.

The mask mandates will go away when they can come up with some other way to impose their will onto the public's everyday lives- or the recall movement shows some success and starts gathering steam.

The idea of being permanently out of power- and becoming a political pariah so they can't even be a behind the scenes power broker and influencer - scares them more than any disease ever will.

Well, we got the two million signatures needed to recall that sonofabastage Newsom. But I am sure the government officials of Costa Oeste Socialista will find a way to thwart it.

We can’t have justice or a free society here. That wouldn’t be in line with the agenda.

Just adding this...

CDC just changed the 6' rule to 3'.

Why? Because they are losing money from schools...and started classes again...and you can not fill a class room with kids 6' apart, but can at 3'.

What happened to all the science/tests that proved spray travels 6'?

The science changes as the agenda does , A scientist is cheaper to buy than a politician

As long as people like Fauci are around who keep changing the criteria, it’s gonna be a long time. Several times lately, I’ve forgotten my mask when dashing into the store. No one gave me a second look. I think people will eventually tire of it and make their own decisions.

On the other hand, I was getting in line recently while wearing a mask, and this COVID commando literally starts shouting at me about getting too close to him and others. I wasn’t, but apparently I had violated his personal space. I told him to mind his own business and he starts shouting again that it is his business. He’s one of those wearing both the full shield and mask. He’s the reason I carry a gun these days. I’m more concerned about the self-righteous rabid left than anyone else.

Hate to change the subject but what happened to Dr. Birks, the Scarf Queen? Did she disagree with King Fauci?

I'm surprised it didn't end immediately after the election was decided.  I think the issue became so contentious that people got emotionally invested in their 'side' of the issue and now refuse to give it up.  I honestly don't think it will ever go away completely.  Even when we're not worried about kung flu any more, there's still the annual flu to panic over.  Places like California and New York will probably keep the mask mandate laws on the books but they will be sporadically enforced (at best).

Maybe ... MAYBE if the idea that masks are detrimental to your health takes hold this will all go away eventually.  But for that to happen the media will have to get on board and I don't know what will move that needle.  Even if scientific studies show it to be true they'll be called junk science if they're not ready to own up to a mistake.

No matter what the outcome, there will always be someone who did not get the word.

There are also people saying they will ALWAYS wear a mask from now on in public! Their reasoning is new viruses, new strains, etc. They also say that masks cut down the numbers of the regular flu!

Well since we now have a wave of thousands upon thousands of Covid infected illegals pouring across our southern border and being scattered all across our nation, I think the chance of a spike in cases is bearing down on us and will be the perfect excuse to keep us all in masks and locked down for who knows how long. The idiocy or intentional manipulation of our country is truly astounding.  SCJ

My hair stylist told me his (hair stylist too) wife usually gets a real bad cold or flu every year. Not last year. He thinks it is the masks and precautions against Covid. They've already had their shots.

I'm still thinking about it.  His doctor told Hubby, he recommends the J&J vaccine for him. I know that I don't want Pfizer. It has too strict of refrigeration standards.

I got the Pfizer last week, second one on April 13. It was administered from University Hospitals of which my primary care doc is part of so I trust them.

I think history will look upon this time with a much different view, how a virus was made into a political weapon at the people’s expense for one party to obtain more power.

That is entirely dependent on which side writes the history book.

It could also be random. One year without it doesn't really mean a lot. Likely they've been more conscious of hand washing and other precautions.

I'm of the opinion that the primary pathway to infection is hand to face & mouth. Think about the number of items that are touched by others that are then touched by us, especially cash, credit cards health insurance cards, etc. If we aren't washing our hands, the mask is useless.

My daughter who lives in a CA gold country county complains about the majority of the residents & businesses there ignoring CA government COVID mandates.  The county health department & the sheriff have publicly acknowledged they aren't enforcing mandates.

The likely reason for the experience of FL & CA is that St Fauchi's statement in spring 2020 that only an infected individual should wear a mask was correct based on limited studies of mask effectiveness.  He stated later when asked why the CDC's change in mask policy that discouraging mask wearing was to prevent hording of PPE. Now there is plenty of evidence from Europe that masks are the least effective means of containing the virus.  Here in North America the politicians and political members of the medical community don't want to do studies because they have a credible fear that the conclusions from studies would put a lie to their mask guidance.  The 6 foot rule is based on a 19th century recommendation re. TB.   Just this week the CDC dropped the 6' rule for a 3' rule in classrooms.  In Europe their research lead to a 1 meter distancing recommendation.  I suspect the CDC looked at the EU research and rounded 1 meter down to 3'.

As someone who has been living in Germany during this whole COVID thing, I'm not really up on the measures that had been taken in the US. But here in Bavaria, they have been extremely strict in all aspects. Mask wearing, maintaining distance, types of mask, unnecessary travel, restaurants, number of people in your home. To name a few. And yet, they have had the exact same big surges that the rest of the world had. And each time, they get even stricter. They are now loosening up a bit, but there has been another surge of cases, so I'm curious to see how strict it will be this time.
