Pat Riot
I really liked the shot of the ladies working on the PT boat nailing the skin to the hull. The Ladies didn’t just build aircraft back then. Why is it auto communista wrongfully corrects some words yet allows complete misspellings of others? Grrrrrr....

When I hear "Rosie the Riveter" I get the mental image of shipyard worker. But every assembly line had Rosies. Amazon Prime TV has, or had, a good selection of films, something like "Women in WWII" . Shipyards, munitions, textile industry, medical research, nuclear research, automotive industry, truck drivers, uniformed services, and more. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/war/topics/women-world-war-ii

Doc X
My Mom's younger brother volunteered for PT duty during WWII. Uncle Bob found out real fast his stomach and a PT boat out on the ocean didn't get along well.
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L
Very good presentation about the PT boats. Two years ago during my trip to the east coast I stopped on my way back at a small museum that included two PT boats. Will post some photos later when I get a chance. Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L
In the fall of 2019 I took a trip the the Garand Collectors Association Convention that was going to be at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site. I had never been there before and I always try to see other places wile traveling. My trip was from September 23rd to October 4th and I drove 3,919.7 miles and traveled through 12 states. My stops were in order: Harpers Ferry National Historic Site, US Military Academy at West Point (My Dad was a cadet there in 1942), GCAC Springfield Armory National Historic Site, Charelston Navy Yard and the USS Constitution, Walked the Botson Freedom Trail, Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA (where the PT boats are), and ended with Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. I did an extensive write up with LOTS of photos and posted a long thread on the M14 Forum. I am cutting and pasting just the Battle Ship Cove portion of that trip so you can see the two PT Boats they have plus the other things there. Guess if others here would like to see the whole trip I could start a seperate thread and repost what I did over on the M14 Forum back in 2019. So here is the Battleship Cove part of the trip. ****** OK this forum will not accept BB code so it looks like I will have to copy and paste each photo so that will be done a little at a time. What a Pain! All done!!! ******* The next morning I headed off to Fall River Ma and arrived at the public parking lot used for Battleship Cove, the Carousel eating establishment and the Fall River Heritage State Park. There were also other museums nearby but I did not take time to visit them. om/kFe7rxu The site has 4 major ships in the water, several outside displays on land and a building that houses 2 PT boats of different makers. You enter through a small building where admission is paid that also has a gift shop. Here are photos of the two PT boats. There is also a movie on PT boats that you can watch as well as some related displays and models. The first one is PT 617, and there is a wooden walk way that you can follow to view the deck and look inside through ports in the side of the hull. This is PT 796 which does not have housings for the torpedoes on deck like PT 617 had. The first ship outside is the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. and you get to walk around and see a lot more that was allowed on the USS Cassin Young in Charlestown. There are MANY levels inside to see but I only took these four photos inside. Parked right adjacent is the USS Lionfish submarine which you gain access from the Kennedy at the rear. From there you work your way to the front on deck where access by ladder down into the sub. I only took a few photos inside as the quarters are close. Adjacent to the Lionfish is the Russian ship Hiddensee but access was closed due to some work they were doing on board. Now for the Big Boy Battleship USS Massachusetts that is accessed from the dock. There were self-guided tours on deck and below deck to many different levels. I did not take any photos below deck and now regret that. Below deck there are places set up as they were during its active time, there are places with displays of photographs, models and other related items and there were places that had videos showing history as well as former crew members telling of times on the ship. There was a place on board that served food but decided to eat at the Carousel place next to where I parked. So I went across a small bridge to look at the building in the heritage park to see what was there and took this photo of ducks swimming towards the pedestrian bridge. There was nothing in the building I really wanted to see but I took these photos of the ships showing their positioned next to the overhead bridge. I ate lunch at the Carousel and found out it is called that because on the upper floor is a real old time carousel with horses that still works during certain hours. After lunch I headed off the New Jersey for my next and last stop of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L
I was hoping not to have to imbed each photo seperately. Is there not a way on the SASS Wire to have the photos from Imgur show up like they do on other forums when I post these links?

Try right clicking on (selecting) your photos on Imgur then select “copy” then come to the Saloon and right click in the comment window then click “paste”. That may work. Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L
Yes I can upload the original photos or copy them from Imgur but that means accessing each photo again in the order in which I put them in the write up. The links I posted are supposed to work on boards and I thought had worked on the SASS Wire before. I was hoping not to have to repeat all that work I have already done with these photos. Yes the BBcode is what I have been using to post photos on other forums with no problems. Put the links into the body of the document and when I cut and past into a threads the photos show up between the text. For some reason it is not working here. Put the links into the body of the document and when I cut and past into a threads the photos show up between the text. For some reason it is not working here. I'm not a moderator or admin here (I am and have been elsewhere), but this is a choice to be made from a forum ownership standpoint. It really comes down to several philosophy points. - if embedded as an off-site image, the image will go away if the other site takes the content down - But the (this) web site does not have to use its own bandwidth to serve the image - And copyright law is not completely clear on displaying images hosted off-site, but copying locally does have copyright considerations - Though safe-harbor legislation may protect the site but not the member - As long as the host complies with a DMCA takedown notice - Separately, allowing BBcode can present security risks and opens the door for hack-spam - And the image on the remote host could change in the future... You linked to a kitty cat, but the remote host replaces it with a porn image - And managing BBcode permissions can lead to problems (like Blink triggering seizures) so permissions need to be granular and some forum software does not support granular permissions - Well, not without software extensions and those then present maintenance problems when the forum software has a critical security update but the extension has not been updated yet - So many sites choose to disallow BBcode entirely and automatically and promptly comply with takedown notices (all bases covered) Not saying that was the thought process here, I have no insight. But it is a path many other sites have taken. But I feel for you in this case, it would probably take an hour or more to edit your post to fix the graphics.
