Pat Riot
Got my New Vaquero back from Ruger a couple days ago. I loaded up 50 rounds of .45 ACP and I had one box of PMC Bronze .45 ACP and I grabbed 10 rounds of .45 Colt reloads that clock about 900 FPS with a 205 grain RNFP bullet and headed, well, my wife took me, to the range. I can’t drive one handed. Got my left arm in a sling. Anyway, I definitely have to do something with the sights on this stainless New Vaquero. Too darn shiny...so that’s what I am blaming the hits on the target below on...Ahem. Anyway, I am very pleased with my new .45 ACP cylinder. The center bullseye I shot with the .45 Colt ammo. The top two are with PMC and the bottom two with my reloads. I loaded my reloads with 230 grain TMJ at approx. 830 FPS. Have you ever reloaded ammo one handed? What a pain that is. All in all I am pleased and cannot wait to try it out with the front sight blade dulled out and the rear sight blacked out. Target’s at 10 yards. I definitely ain’t the most accurate one handed shooter. Haha Target at 10 yards I don’t care how bad I shot. I really like this revolver.
Charlie Harley, #14153
Good for you, Pat. Looks like it’s going to be a nice combination, especially with darkened sights and two healthy hands.
Joe Cross, SASS #13848 L
Gonna change to a Super Blackhawk hammer? Make it much easier to cock the hammer.
Rattlesnake Slim
The only problem I have with mine (Flat Top Blackhawk) is the ACP cylinder doesn't like lead bullets. After a couple of cylinders full, the sharp shoulder accumulates lead and then the cartridges won't chamber.
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619
Mighty purty. Was just shootin' my OMV .45 yesterday at the outdoor range-- Spring sunshine. Do like Ruger .45s....

I have a couple of them. I wasn’t going to change it but I believe I will now. I have a BH hammer on my original Vaquero. I intend t buy a Blackhawk fairly soon...if they ever ship any out my way. Here’s a photo of my two current Vaqueros.
Raylan
Congrats - got my two new vaqueros from Davidson's back when they had guns with the extra 45 ACP cylinders and they are nice to have and shoot.
Colorado Coffinmaker
Rattlesnake Slim ... Sounds like your cylinder throats are undersize. Ruger is famous, or infamous, for undersize cylinder throats. I suggest checking your bore diameter, then having your local gunsmith ream the cylinder throats to proper diameter for lead bullets.
