H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Random Idea Stage 1: The Rifleman 10-5-10-4 10 rounds from a main match rifle 5 rounds from a "rifle caliber" repeater 10 rounds from a .22 rifle 4 shotgun rounds to make sure the timer records something. Stage 2: The Pistolero 5-4-5-2-2 5 rounds from a main match revolver 4 rounds from a pocket pistol 5 rounds from a .22 revolver 2 rounds from a derringer 2 rounds from a shotgun Stage 3: The Shotgunner. 4-5 4 rounds from a SxS 5 rounds from either an 87 or q 97 with a fully loaded magazine. Stage 4: The Single Shot 2-2-2-2 (Optional) 2 shots each from a rifle caliber single shot rifle, a single shot pistol caliber rifle, a single shot pistol and a single shot shotgun. A double barrel or repeater can be used if you don't have a single shot, but may only be loaded one at a time. Might work well on Side Match Day at a big shoot. Any takers?

But no in that this is just not another speed match. These ideas are about using different guns in different ways and/or combinations. Far more interesting variation than just another "speed match."

After watching the whole video, I came to realize that. Still looks like a hoot and a half of fun though. Also puts to rest the idea that people can't shoot guns they aren't familiar with.
Goody, SASS #26190 Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Bar 3 puts on "Scoot and Shoot" every year at Comin Atchya. Competitors loan pistols, rifles and shotguns. To enter you have to put up 50 or 100 rounds of ammo, along with a box of 12 gauge. Smokeless or Black. Then you start at the far left of the boardwalk and traverse 5 or 6 stages, shooting different scenarios as they go. As they arrive at each table or prop they are reminded by that stage operator of the sequence. This is for time and misses and procedurals apply. The entire run is perhaps 50 yards laterally, engaging maybe 30 different firearms.

Along the lines of above, the firearms used, in no particular order are... 1. Main Match type revolver, no conversions. 2. .22 Revolver 3. Pocket Pistol 4. Derringer 5. Single Shot pistol, any caliber from .22 to .50. 6. Main Match type rifle 7. Rifle caliber repeating rifle 8. Single Shot Rifle in rifle caliber 9. Single Shot rifle in pistol caliber 10 "Outlawed" pre-1900 rifle caliber repeater. Options include but are not limited to Winchester 95, Savage 99, and various bolt action rifles that were designed before 1900. Yes, the Mauser is okay, as it is pre-1900. The 1903 Springfield is not. So bring your Krag! 11. 1911 or earlier autoloading pistol. (Luger, Broomhandle, etc) 12. Pre-1900 designed "full sized" double action revolver. 13. Side by side shotgun 14. Winchester 87 with preloaded magazine 15 Winchester 97 with preloaded magazine 16. Single Shot Shotgun 17. Any non US manufacture revolver made prior to the end of WWII. Single or double action. 18. Mare's Leg type pistol 19. Cap and Ball revolver, either with caps, or cartridge converted. 20. A single action revolver that is not an SAA (or clone) or a Ruger. 10 second bonus if you personally own ALL the firearms in the string. Looks like I'll have to get a number 9. Also must be willing to share if anybody needs anything. Gonna need a bigger gun cart...

Using two bays that are side-by-side, club provided a pair of revolvers, a rifle and a shotgun with the required ammo for that part of the shooting.
