Mold Handle advice (Lyman)

I come again to the fount of all cowboy knowledge. . .

 

I’m a new shooter that’s taking up casting. I recently came into possession of a couple Lyman 4 cavity molds without handles. I’m curious to know whether I have to find Lyman handles, or will other brands work as well?  Just trying to cast the widest possible net.

First, the market has gone nuts and prices are crazy for handles.

Second, the larger Lee 6-cavity handles will fit on Lyman molds just fine.

RCBS handles are built even better than the 2 mentioned above, and will usually fit Lyman molds. 

 

Lyman makes two sizes of handles. one to fit 1 and 2 cavity molds, and one to fit 4 cavity molds.  Saeco/Redding handles are out there (very high quality), but fit only Saecos unless you grind on the tangs.  Be aware of what you are buying. 

 

Looked at Lyman's own catalog on-line

and the picture they show looks exactly like a Saeco handle.   Perhaps they are farming out handle production to Saeco/Redding and ensuring that the tangs will fit Lyman?  I've never had a pair of Lyman handles that look like that picture.

Cholla, thanks!  I have noticed that handles, along with everything are nuts right now. Who’d a thunk?  Anyway - this is the precise type of feedback I was hoping for thank you.  JJ
