Used to drink 6 to 8 Cokes a day.  Never could stand other colas.

Many years ago Cliff Hanger started me drinking Dr. Pepper.

A few years back now, I rediscovered sarsaparilla (aka sassperiller).  That's my favorite soft drink now.................But I keep Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, A&W root beer and orange pop for folks who drop by, even if they haven't been blessed with my level of sophistication and good taste.  I even have water, coffee (regular and decaf), sweet tea, and both black and green teas.

There's even a half gallon of milk in the fridge for some occasions, like milk shakes and malts,  Ovaltine, and to use with cereals and for cooking.

According to my nephrolagist (kidney specialist) dark colas of any kind plus spinach, kale and a few other things can contribute to the formation of kidney stones! I used to drink a LOT of Coca Cola or Diet Coke.  Also dark tea ain't good for you either! :(  Used to drink a lot of Coke.  No more!

Stay well and safe, Pards!

Drinking it is good for Coke Cola and Pepsi, Sam.

For many years, Coke was the real thing.  But A&W Rootbeer on tap in a frosted mug was pure ambrosia!  There are still restaurant that specialize in making their own rootbeer.

But age and high carb diet caught up to me and soft drinks had to go.  Now if I even take a drink of a soft drink, it tastes sicking sweet.  I drink a lot of green tea here at home.  On the road, I'll get unsweetened tea.

Coke hasn't been the real thing since circa 1902.

It's good for getting road tar off your car, cleaning glass, and marinating-tenderizing steaks. (Pierce or pound the meat, cover the steak with it for about two hours, rinse and cook.  No taste of Coke, but the acids break down the meat....like it does to your stomach lining.  :o)

OK, I kept my mouth shut till now but........having been employed by Coca-Cola for 43 years, I heard this crap quite regularly. (Nothing personal meant to you 40R) People would tell me that you can clean your battery terminals with Coke. My answer to them was that it is now $5 per bottle battery terminal cleaner. As far as eating your stomach lining....there are far stronger acids in your stomach occuring naturally for digestion. Most any carbonated beverage will have the same effect in tenderizing meats. And I certainly am not going to smear sticky colored sugar water on my windows in an attempt to clean them. As far as the OP is concerned, I experienced similar crap in "Diversity" training that made me cringe. The current training mentioned was from LinkedIn and not from corporate.

You can be sure I have consumed my share of Coca-Cola products over the years with no ill effect.

On the fifth night of my honey moon we were in Hershey, PA and was raining enough to put Noah on alert.  I got up about midnight and walked three blocks in the rain for a six pack of Coke.  My wife asked me I was nuts until I explained I couldn't keep up the pace without that stimulant.

As to the uses for cleaning, I have actually done that a couple of times when nothing else was available. Also tried it on steaks, but there are a number of tenderizers that work better and cost less.

Now, about my stomach and Coke: I drank a lot of Coke over the years and put all manner of other "harmful" stuff in my stomach and other than some reflux problems that came on recently I've never had any problems.  All I can say about Coke is that it served me well (and frequently) over nearly eighty years and it's still a top five drink in my house.

Thanks for putting 43 years into such a great product.  Some of us appreciate it.

PS, never could stand Pepsi.  It had a dusty taste to it that I didn't take to.

Ever take the pepsi challenge?

They set up at a state fair.

I voted Coke.

Blind test two cups of cola.

No surprise.

I've taken that test about three times, failed it every time.  I guess my taste buds are not sophisticated enough.

Seamus, could the 43 years of CC products have anything to do with your obsession with pink longjohns?

I’m not putting down Coke as a product, it’s no better or worse than Pepsi or any other carbonated sugar filled soda, it’s the crazy liberal cancel culture that permeates our society! It’s ridiculous !

I tell folks that I drink Coca Cola!  I have ordered a”Coke” in restaurants and when asked if “Pepsi is all right,” I answer “Absolutely NOT!”

My usual reply includes, “If I wanted something flat and too sweet, I wouldn’t have married my wife!!”
