Bloop!

Not bragging but I had a knack for lobbing grenades with the M79 when I was in the Navy. Such a cool single shot weapon. Luckily and thankfully I never had to use one in a combat or defensive situation.

Unfortunately I cannot have one to play with. What fun that could be.

You could always try:

Dismount it from the carriage, put it on a tiller stock and use a quill, r maybe bore out the touch hole and tap it to take a percussion nipple, add a slap hammer.

Do you have to yell "4!" when you light the fuse?

Weeellllllll.....

That kinda depends....;)

And a ping pong ball is only 2mm smaller than a golf ball.   That's about 2 layers of duct tape.

My uncle didn't talk much about his time in d'Nam.

On one of the EXTREMELY rare occasions when he did, he said his first insertion in-country was off a Huey, making a hot insertion: he and his buddies bailed out of the bird, ran to the ditch line and took their firing positions.

He said he was between the radioman and the medic.

They were the first two killed.

Next was the forty gunner.

He shouldered his brand new sixteen, sighted, fired, pulled the trigger again, and ... nothing.

Failed to cycle, fired round was pretty much welded in the chamber, he grabbed the charging handle, yanked.

He rolled over.

The forty gunner was close by.

He tossed his sixteen, crawled over to the forty gunner, pulled his gunbelt and rounds: he said the bloop tube worked just like the H&R Topper he hunted rabbits with back home.

He wore the .45 automatic as regularly as his trousers.

That, and the Bloop Tube, was what he carried for the rest of his tour.
