Alpo
Where you live (because I'm sure every state has their own rules) is it legal for someone to go hunting with you if they do not have a hunting license? You are going out after deer, and you bring your friend Bill along for company. Bill is not planning on hunting deer. Bill is not going to carry a gun. Bill is just going along. Legal? sassnetguy50
If Bill does not have a gun, bill is not hunting and a license is not required. Bill does have to conform with hunting ethics laws like driving game or spotting game by aircraft, radio use.
LawMan Mark, SASS #57095L
In Alabama, on privately owned land, Bill is just fine. On Management land, owned by Alabama, he'd have to have a permit to be there.

Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I think I remember a F&G guy saying that if you’re hunting moose, you were allowed to bring an unlicensed person with you to help haul it out of the woods. Chief Rick
No gun = not hunting. MDWFP License Requirements Quote Resident - Each resident of the State of Mississippi ages sixteen (16) to sixty-four (64), must obtain a hunting license, except while hunting on lands titled in his name. Any person sixty-five (65) or older, or any person otherwise exempted from obtaining a hunting license, must have documentation with him/her at all times while hunting as described in #3 (Exemptions). [MS. Code 49-7-5] Non-Resident - All non-resident hunters, except minors under the age of sixteen (16), are required to obtain a hunting license while hunting in the State of Mississippi. John Kloehr
Tennessee: From: https://www.tn.gov/twra/license-sales/hunting-licenses.html Quote If you hunt game or attempt to hunt game by any method or if you assist someone else to do so, you must have a valid hunting license. There are some exceptions... Bill may just be along for company, but it may be a hard sell to a warden given the wording here. If he helps carry any gear or haul out your trophy, he is assisting you. To be legal here, he would have to be useless.
