Dang It Dan 13202
Well boys and girls, due to the component shortage I am faced with the prospect of using some powder I have had since Obama was in office. I have a new 8# container of Winchester WST. I don't even remember why I bought it, but waste not, want not. Does anyone one know if this is suitable for .38 special? I am not looking for specific data for obvious reasons but if someone could PM me with something like a starting charge, that would be great. Thanks, Dang It Dan

dannyd
Hodgdon web site as data listed. It's a messy powder. Great for 12 ga. slugs
Lonesoms Al SASS37893
I've been loading 3.2 gr of WST with a 130 gr bullet for years, it is in an older Winchester manual. Hope this helps

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Messy? It's fine grained and tends to leak out of measures a bit. But it shoots very clean in cowboy cartridges and 12 gauge shotgun target loads. And about as accurate as a pistol powder can be. good luck, GJ

Go West
Nosler lists 3.4 gr. for 780 fps with a 125 jacketed bullet, so 3.2 or so seems pretty good.

COLORADO JACKSON
It is a great powder for Cowboy Action, anywhere in the 3.0 to 3.3 gr should be good for 105, 110, 125, 147, and 158 bullet. It is a great powder just cost a little more than most powders but burns very clean at low velocities, i would highly recommend it for this game. An abbreviation of just "g" is grams. Big difference. You measured powder to the hundredth of grain? Why, and how - a Mettler balance? good luck, GJ
