Fireball #7709 Life
Looking for suggestions/pics/personal experience of what's out there for these guns. I found a couple of older finger groove sporters that I want to put something on and red dot's and scopes don't really fit the age genre/use of the guns. I see Williams still makes one(what I've had in the past), XS makes one, Skinner and Tech. Anybody still using peep sights on these and can offer any info? Chili Ron
Howdy, There is some sort of Appleseed challenge sight that might be to your likes. Actually I feel rifles need scopes to make best use of that long barrel. I think a little 2-7 redfield is about perfect for 10/22 One of my friends loved the 4-12 scope. I think it looks great on the 10/22 but on the big side. If your eyes will let you go for that peep. Best CR see Tech sights...also on ebay you can see reviews too. adjustable aperture sights... Crooked River Pete, SASS 43485
I have the tech sights and realy like them, they are quite similar to the AR15 sights. Oh, and no gunsmithing required.

Chili Ron
Howdy, I have a set of those Tech sights and some other bits and pieces. I doubt I will ever use them. If you settle on them we might be able to make a deal. Possibly my nephew might want em but he hasnt said anything. I would have to find em. pm me if interested. only the original poster at this time. I got lots of other stuff to do and dental problems on top of all.. The rear sight mounts on the rear of the receiver and uses existing scope base screw holes.
Fireball #7709 Life
Thanks for the replies guys. I had looked at those and none really seemed to fit the rifles lines to me, other than the Williams which I've had and was unimpressed with the adjustment screws. Maybe I'll look to a 1-4x scope for them. they're identical, except for caliber so I want to keep the sighting system the same.

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
In the old days Ruger's ad campaign for the .44 Mag Carbine was a hunter killing a gorilla. Since the mountain gorillas are almost extinct that would not be PC anymore. I had an early standard model but always wanted the model with the built in Williams receiver sight and no sight on the barrel. I looked at gun shows for 20 years and found this one. It has been in the safe for the past 30+ years. Fireball's post reminded me it was in the back of the safe. This one was made in 1967. After all that looking I have never shot it. Amazing, your willpower. I'm not aware of them putting the integral sighted guns in the finger groove sporter stock, and I wanted that. I had one like yours prior to having a FG Sporter, the 10/22 style stock tends to have more felt recoil. Awesome guns for hunting in brushy/swampy areas. Chili Ron
Howdy, Just remember lead will clog the action. Use jacketed as much as possible. I had one that jammed like crazy because I shot lead. Didnt know...oh well. The next owners kid LOVES the gun. So all is well. Best CR easier to keep the lead out than get the lead out. Good reminder! I've always used jacketed out of the ones I've had, but others might try CAS loads(which probably won't cycle the action anyway.LOL)
