That bushy tail would make some nice fishing flies,

They did, if they dared Dad's pecan tree.  He could hit a squirrel with a slingshot from his bedroom window.

Clyde Tx where I live is pretty much full of pecan trees..........and squirrels. They can be pretty entertaining sometimes.

They are entertaining when their tail hair is hanging on to a wet fly as an overwing. About a number 10 or 12 size hook. :D

But they’re still rats!

Rats with good PR agents is all they are.  I did a research paper on them when I was in high School that I had to present to the class.  I believe the title of the paper was TREE RATS!

I hated having to try squirell at Papaw's house!!! Yuck!!!

I've had 'em, not bad eating. Not a great deal of meat on one of course.

I think I was around 10.

Had to have a bite of squirell and a bite of rabbit.

Really hated it...

More so when I found out the rabbit I had to have a bite of was a cute black and white I was playing with before!!!!

Oh my word... Today they would be screaming child abuse!!!

We have up to five hanging around the trees and side porch.  Wife leaves unsalted peanuts out for them (not salted...don't want them to get high blood pressure!).   Very hard on what hearing I have left...cockapoo sees them through the window and goes nuts barking. :P

I think the fluffy tailed tree rat looked delicious.

Love eating both squirrel and cottontail rabbit--especially fried the way my mother cooked them.  Mom would put the pieces in a pressure cooker for a while then roll them in her special batter and fry them.   Delicious!

They are cute...until they find a way into your attic, and set up housekeeping.

I have a .22 hole in my roof, right now, from trying to solve that problem.

I never knew something that small could produce that much guano!!!

It went from a love, to a love-hate, to a hate, relationship...pretty fast.

Just a large rat, with a bushy tail. Skinned out, on a spit, over a fire, they really do resemble a big rat.

I'd rather have to go back through basic training, than to eat one of those.

But...to each his own.
