Silver Sam, SASS #34718L
The two are different lengths. It probably "Could" be done, but it would not be an easy swap & I have no idea why someone would want to go to the trouble.

For me a '66 Loading Gate is easier to load and not as likely to pinch my fingers..... But I dont have 6" Nails either

Branchwater Jack SASS #88854
And, @Silver Sam, SASS #34718L, while it is legal to put a '66 loading gate in a '73, I do not believe that it is legal to put a '73 style loading gate in a'66, however @PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L could correct me on that. Colorado Coffinmaker
Putting an 1873 loading gate on a '66 is . . . . silly. Serves no good end. It is much simpler to simply reinforce the silly tab on the '66 Gate and be done.

And to answer the OP, instructions are on the vendor's website: https://www.sbgwllc.com/collections/rifle/products/copy-of-uberti-1873-loading-gate-all-calibers $49 currently for the loading gate. They appear to be sold out of the Gold colored ones.
Preacherman
The SGB '66 style gate for the '73 is one of the best upgrades I ever did. It makes loading and reloading so much easier. I've always hated the new and improved '73 loading gate as I feel that it is inferior to the original '66 design. I agree with Coffinmaker, "Putting an 1873 loading gate on a '66 is . . . . silly. Serves no good end."
