Trillion is a what??

Howdy,

Biden is throwing around unbelievable numbers.

Imagine 1000 dollars in your hand.

How much work would that represent?

Now a million dollars is 1000 stacks of 1000 dollars.

To spend a million dollars at 1000 a day would take 1000 days.  33 months about.

Now a billion is 1000 times that.  so spending a billion would take 33000 months. 2750 years.

And remember the intrest at say 18 percent well I leave that for someone else.

A trillion is 1000 times that.  1000 dollars a day for 2,750,000 years.

Now Biden is talking about just handing out this money.

No work or real product being produced.

Thats called inflation.

So the value of a dollar will go down.

100 years ago gold coins were 20 dollars for about an ounce of gold more or less.

today that ounce of gold is around 1800 cash dollars.

In the mid sixties I stamped hundreds of cans of tomato soup 9 cents.

11 of them for a real silver dollar.

Today a can of tomato soup, just the same except for a pop top can is a dollar.

Today a computer can change the prices in the blink of an eye.

Best

CR

Those are eye popping numbers, but the concerning numbers are how many days will it take to ruin America.

Not a political post, just reality.

The left/libs/progs/dems/dem-socs like this thing called Modern Monetary Theory.

A nutshell explanation is that money is a resource of the government, and it can produce as much of it as it needs, but it depends on the expansion of the economy will increase production of goods and services to help restrict inflation.

If economic expansion doesn’t keep inflation low, and no one wants to buy the debt the government runs up, then the government can slow inflation by reducing disposable income through tax policies.

In other words, if you make widgets and the government wants them, it just creates money to buy them. But if prices go up because you have more money to buy stuff, the government uses taxes to reduce the amount of extra money you have.

But it still gets your widgets.

Heck, I don't mind another $1400 in my pocket. It'll give me an excuse to get another new gun, paid for by Uncle Sam himself. As for it bankrupting the entire country, well we'll all be dead and buried before this nation finally implodes from its inability to pay its own debts.

Sucks for our grandchildren though.

We just had a national election, and this is what the majority of the voters wanted...more free stuff, and more handouts, more opportunities for anyone to go into any bathroom.

Whether you think all this is right, wrong, or sideways....that's what we are stuck with, for at least four more years.

I can see a few rays of sunshine, in the otherwise bleak forecast. One: the senate is equally divided, but of course the socialist vice-president has the tie-breaker vote, if it comes to that. Two: the majority of the supreme court is now more conservative than it was a few months ago. Three: without a super majority in the Senate, the socialist/liberals/leftists can't have a totally free hand to ruin our country as quickly as they thought. Four: if the demo-rats cannot manage to do what they promised, in a timely manner, they risk being defeated in the mid-term elections. Ole sniffin' joe has already gone back on a campaign promise to give everybody a $2,000 check for pandemic assistance. He now proposes $500, and perhaps more later on...maybe.

Seems that has come to the attention of some liberals, and they don't like it. I've read that some have even said they will never vote democrat again.

Awww...ain't that a shame!!!

The average household that pays income taxes pays about $10k in income taxes.  When I hear big numbers I just do the math to realize how many households we are talking about.

$50 billion to Iran in 2016 was all the income taxes that 5 million households would pay in one year.

This does not include sales, property, sin, inheritance and other taxes.

not being political but arent we talking bankruptcy ? maybe i missed something about spending other folks money

Refer to my comment about 'Modern Monetary Theory' above. When the government's starting position is that all the money is theirs anyway, they can print up all they want. Taxes are just one way the government says, 'Hey, gimme some of that back.'

Nations don't go bankrupt, exactly. They 'restructure debt', they have runaway inflation, they have depressions, they have recessions. Life sucks for the people who aren't running the government for awhile, until they make life suck for the people who are.

Trump and McConnell were among the first to use the Trillion when discussing federal spending.

Let’s at least be responsible when assigning blame for reckless fiscal policy.

Look on the bright side: if you missed  the LBJ or Jimmy Carters presidencies you are in Luck.   You will be able to get a Two for One.   Save all the money you can you are go to need it.     We will never know how the vote went because the system is broken, so we will never have a fair election again.  Good Luck.

seems they shave that off the top - way too many poor political folks walk away rich with no explanation demanded and no investigation of how given their meager salary that exceeds anything their constituents have as an average , not saying illegal but wondering why the rest of us cant even get a tax break ?
