Do you really need a weather station to tell you it is (or has been ) snowing?

Where Bob lives...and where we live...you really do need to know what is coming!!!

One year we went to bed with clear skies...and woke to 3 feet of snow!!!

I’m a bit of a weather junkie. Since the old station crapped out, I’ve missed checking the wind speed, humidity, temp variations and so on. I belong to COCORAHS. Station CO-DR-14.
Just another weird hobby I have. ;)

You need a weather rock.

  • If the rock is wet, it's raining.
  • If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing.
  • If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining.
  • If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy.
  • If the rock is difficult to see, it is foggy.
  • If the rock is white, it is snowing.
  • If the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost.
  • If the ice is thick, it's a heavy frost.
  • If the rock is bouncing, there is an earthquake.
  • If the rock is under water, there is a flood.
  • If the rock is warm, it is sunny.
  • If the rock is missing, there was a tornado.
  • If the rock is wet and swinging violently, there is a hurricane.
  • If the rock can be felt but not seen, it is night time.
  • If the rock has white splats on it, watch out for birds.
  • If there are two rocks, stop drinking, you are drunk.

You forgot to mention that the rock is supposed to be hanging from something by a string. Otherwise how could it swing to tell you that the wind is blowing or that there is a hurricane?

My boots are insulated and waterproof. I have a pair with 2200 g of thinsulate, snow gaiters, and toe warmers for really cold days.

I got frostbite in Germany as a young fella so my dogs don’t do well in real frigidness.

Speaking of “Whiteness”, how about this new Wire format? Man, this is bright!

By the way UB, both pairs of those boots must be really comfortable otherwise you would have noticed right away. ;)

I hate snow!

Here in the Tucson area, our high is supposed to be 28F below.  Again, that's 28F below 100F.

Expecting rain tonight!!!  Hoorah!!!!   We need it after our Arizona 2020 Nonsoon season.

That’s graupel. Looks kinda like hail but harmless. More like styrofoam.

You are a brave man.  I'm usually the bed warmer in our house.  She will bring those ice blocks to bed and press them right up agin me.  It isn't so bad when my back is aching.  I pull them up and put them where it hurts.  Better than any ice pack.

And that’s why I bought an electric blanket. ;)

I had to shovel this morning, and salt. Had to be careful as the tire tracks were slippery. Had a cat trash mess to clean up as well. Tore up my trash bag I have on a rolling stand. Also filled the bird feeders, the little piggies have just about emptied them already!
