21 million guns sold and 8.4 million new gun owners.

Happy to hear about the industry’s success. Bummed about what’s driving the demand.  ( Fear)

I make a motion that folks who’ve been gun owners for more than 40 years get a special dispensation to move to the head of the line to buy ammo for the guns we already have.

Yeah, but as soon as we get there, we have to leave to go pee!

Those are just traceable sales. In many states, FTF sales are legal and not recorded.

I move to amend that motion such that there are places (stages) where one can cut in line. Go to the front of the line if you have 1000 or more guns but les than 50000 round of ammunition, provided that you may cut in front of any other similar owner of 1000 or more guns. There must be similar “cut in” points for owners of 750, 500, 250, 100, 50, 25, 10 or more guns with commensurate ammunition vaults.

exception being if you are a hoarder who never goes to the range.)))))

I know here in Mi for years as long as you had a CPL there was no NICS check required. Then after our state voted to legalize weed the feds made the dealers start doing them again.
Also if you buy multiple guns there’s still just one background check

1000 guns? At first I thought that was a typo...then you typed it again. I do not know anyone that owns 1000 guns. That's a lot of guns. ;)

Interesting numbers.
NRA claims 40 million background checks in 2020, but only 21 million guns sold?

Does this mean there is a 50% failure rate with background checks?

Here in CA, a background check at my LGS is $40.
I had three on my last background check, so I saved $80 by not paying $120.
DROS at my LGS is $50 each.

I knew one guy who may have got there . He had a safe built the size of a good size bedroom. He even got a old “poison door” from a bank that went out of business. He told me it was filled with some sort of powder that if you tried to torch the door it would give off a gas that would make you sick . He had allot of neat guns

I knew an old guy, he’s passed on now, Marshal Sudden Justice, IIRC.

I don’t know how many guns he had but his gun room had racks, his ceiling beams had revolvers and pistols hanging by the trigger guards, he had pocket pistols hanging by the trigger guards. Run of the mill pocket pistols in pails on the floor. Display racks everywhere. Not just cowboy guns, black guns, hunting weapons, commie revolutionary guns.

i showed him a pp in mint condition that had sat in a lawyers desk for 70 years, he showed me one in the box.

personally, I only got to a little over 300.

Lots of background checks done for other reasons like concealed carry license approval and more.

I bought a gun last month and had to wait over two weeks for a background check. Here we are a week after finally being cleared and picking it up, I buy another one and have to go through the waiting period and background check all over again. You know, just in case I did something naughty in the past six days.

If this is the case, then those new gun owners will only be buying 2 billion rounds, instead of 4 billion.
2 million 9mm cartridges will only circle the Earth 1 1/2 times instead of 3+.

Darn.. where is the fun in that?
:D

If you have had guns for over 40 years than you should have stocked up on  your ammo/reloading components  years ago. Shame on you for not doing it!

I had about 80, then My mother spent the summer in the icu.  Now i have the essentials. Sometimes it's a kick in the nuts to walk past empty cabinets and safes.  Moms home so it's worth it.

Ammo I have some.... and components to load more.

I have dreamed of a day when I am selling a car or something here in Kaleepornia and the person that buys it is a politician and I get to say...

”Okay, thank you sir (or ma’am), you can pick it up in 10 days. Cars are unsafe. They kill more people than anything else in the country. I just want to be sure this is a safe transaction.”

I have made bureaucrats at work wait 10 days on things that they have needed from me. It’s fun!

Yes Ohio is one of them. I’ve bought and sold quite a few guns over the years FTF.

Also in Ohio If you have a CCL you dont need to go through a background check unless the gun shop want to. It’s up to them.

I’ve known several over the years. Military friends that came from three or more military generations family collections. Not unusual. I know one man whose collection exceeds 5000 guns easily and has the ammo to back it up. Both collectible and current. Guaranteed he doesn’t live in A liberal state

I’ve known a few folks who are in that 1,000 gun range.  I knew one fellow who had around 200 Winchester ‘97s and a few ‘ 93s as well! No telling how many Colts and S&Ws he had.

2020 broke all records in gun sales. Hornady says they made 33% more ammo but haven't made a dent in demand.

http://thegunfeed.com/final-numbers-for-2020-21-million-guns-sold-8-4-million-new-gun-owners/

NSSF estimates that 8.4 million were new gun owners. How in the world could they come up with estimate? There’s no question in the 4473 Form that asks if you’re a first time gun owner! Did they talk to gun shop owners? I know it’s just an estimate but I’d like to know how they came to that conclusion.

I don't know what bit coin is. Sounds like something in the "cloud".

Its like them American Federal Reserve notes. Its a virtual currency with agreed upon value based on belief that it has value. Except they don't even bother to print paper its completely imaginary. Not backed by or created from any specie.

bought a new AR in a different and  new caliber.  Would only sell me 3 boxes of bullets to go with the gun.  Utah also will accept a CCW for a background check.

PS actually bought two AR but don't tell my wife.  She may claim one of them...
